THE first half saw 2nd Chance with the first centre pass against Red Dragons, intercepted by Amanda White (C) but given away and the ball gets to 2nd Chance circle and are able to score the first point.

Overhead passes see 2nd Chance with the ball but interception by Jaime Fenton (GD) gets the ball to the Red Dragons and Rebecca Hanratty (GS) gets the Dragon’s first point.

2nd Chance GS uncharacteristically has trouble getting the ball through the net but after a lot of good defending by both teams, 2nd Chance start to pull away with both GS and GA getting on target. Great defending by Dragons GD gets the ball to Lindsay Hawkins (GA) who gets the score back to 4-2 to 2nd Chance. Excellent passing by 2nd Chance’s Lisa Powe (C) gets the ball to their GS who manages to get the ball on target from the edge of the circle time after time.

The second half starts with a Red Dragons centre, with some excellent passing seeing the Red Dragon’s GA start the scoring. After lots of interceptions by both teams eventually sees 2nd Chance start their scoring. Blocking by Emma Robertson (WD) gets the ball to Red Dragon’s GS who scores from the edge of the circle, closely followed by another after the centre pass, however some sloppy passing sees 2nd Chance score whenever they get the ball into the circle. Some excellent defending by 2nd Chance GD and GK see Dragons struggling to get the ball into the circle and their WA gets the ball up to their circle and 2nd Chance pull away. Red Dragons get the ball into their circle and after two well held rebounds, GA manages to score.

Final score, 2nd Chance 22, Red Dragons 10.

Whizzkids v Red Dragons

RED Dragons start with the centre pass with Whizzkids starting with a player down. The ball gets into the Red Dragons circle but a series of penalties sees the ball get to the Whizzkids GA who starts the scoring.

Footwork mistake by Dragon’s Amanda White (C) gets the ball to Whizzkids who score again. Dragons make use of their extra player by knocking the ball out of play but excellent passing by Whizzkids increases their lead. The ball eventually gets to Red Dragon’s Rebecca Hanratty (GA) who scores, closely followed by a goal from Lindsay Hawkins (GS) to pull the score back to 7-3 to Whizzkids. A rebound in the Whizzkids circle is caught by Dragon’s Jaime Fenton (GD) but more footwork mistakes gets the ball back to Whizzkids who score again. Final goal is scored by Red Dragon’s GA as the whistle is blown for half time.

The second half starts with a Red Dragons centre pass but interception by Whizzkid’s Fiona Temple (GD) gets the ball back. Penalties for contact give the Dragons the ball back but are unable to score. Breaking by the Whizzkids GD gives the Red Dragons the ball but the ball is given back after a held ball by the Dragon’s GA on the edge of the circle. Interception by Jen Corbett (GK) sees the start of some excellent passing by the Red Dragons and the GS scores from the edge of the circle, followed in quick succession by another by the GA. Some great defending by Whizzkid’s GD and their GK blocks the ball from getting to the Dragon’s GA and GS and after two penalties for contact, gets the ball to Whizzkids GS who scores. A long ball by Red Dragon’s Emma Robertson (WD) is intercepted by Whizzkids but quick passing sees the ball go out of court and given back to the Dragons. Feisty defending by Dragon’s WD knocks the ball out of court and gives Whizzkids another point. After a quickly passed Red Dragons centre, GS gets the ball on target to start to pull the score back to 12-8 to Whizzkids. Interceptions by Red Dragon’s C gets the ball to the GS who scores, followed by more rapid passing and additional points to the Red Dragons.

Final Score, Whizzkids 15, Red Dragons 11.
