MARTIAL arts and fitness group ESKK honoured one of its dedicated karate students with their Student of the Year Award 2012.
David Forsythe from Whitehaven, who took up karate in 2010, was given his award by the group’s founder and chief instructor, Chris Denwood, overlooked by fellow members who all took part in a vote to choose the winner.
Chris said: “I always feel very proud to present this award because it stands as a testament to consistent hard work, commitment and dedication. David has shown some exceptional qualities since first joining the dojo. His unwavering positive attitude despite being in constant battle with past injuries is truly commendable and I would like to congratulate him on what is an achievement very well-deserved”.
David told members: “Learning traditional karate has been a life-changing experience for me and the people that make up the ESKK are an absolute inspiration. To have such excellent training passed on to me week in, week out is pretty awesome, but to be then offered this award in recognition of my part in the group is mind-blowing! I am humbled, delighted and very much honoured to accept it.”
The group E.S.K.K (Eikoku Satori Karate-do Kyokai) have recently returned from Birmingham where they were invited as guests to demonstrate and teach at the International Martial Arts Show held at the NEC.
The ESKK hold weekly karate classes in Whitehaven, Egremont, Bowthorn and Arlecdon in dedicated senior, junior and mixed family formats. To find out more call 01946 694751 or visit www.eskk.co.uk.
