Wildcats battle but are beaten

THE junior Wildcats battled hard but, in the end, were outpaced and outmuscled by a bigger Warrington pack.

The altered rules – with no conversions, scrums or kick-offs – made for a free-flowing and faster paced game, which suited the Warrington side who utilised the quick play-the-ball and caught the Wildcats on the back foot.

Morgan Walker-Taylor and Sarah Edgar made some solid tackles to show that it was not going to be a one-sided match, while Katie McGee and Sophie Martin did will to control the attacking plays.

The Wildcats’ well-deserved try came from good work downfield from the home forwards putting in the ground work for Nicole Nicolson to power her way over the line.

Coach Joanne Philip said: “We have seen a massive improvement in all of the girls’ performance. They have come a long way from the beginning of the year and the score didn’t reflect how well they played.”
