WHITEHAVEN’S unbeaten under-11s team visited Carlisle in the County League Cup and came away with a fine victory – despite missing several of their key players.
Carlisle elected to bat and they were soon in trouble as the ever-reliable Liam Campbell 3-15 and skipper Guy Pattinson 2-12 bowled with their usual consistency.
They were once again well supported by Jake Conery, Jake Martin and Lewis Keeler.
Carlisle’s trail-end batsmen then mounted a spirited fightback with James Brown scoring a hard-hitting 18 not out.
The home side’s innings closed with the score at 60-8.
In reply, Haven were always up with the run rate, as Guy Pattinson (18no), Sol Cowan (12) and Campbell (12) taking the visitors to victory in 16 overs.
James Brown demonstrated what a fine prospect he is as he claimed 2 for 8 in a man-of-the-match performance for the Edensiders.
The game was played in a wonderful spirit which was a credit to both players and their clubs.
