MEDALS have been handed out to Copeland’s own “Olympic” winners at Whitehaven Sports Centre.
Offering trampolining, gymnastics, archery, taekwondo, badminton, football, tennis and fencing, the Olympic Carnival was open to youngsters from the age of four.
Over 15 days, hundreds of children took part in events which culminated in a closing medal ceremony attended by torchbearer, Jocelyn Lace.
Lewis Price, holidays activities leader, said: “It’s great to see the children coming through the door every day and participating in quality sporting activity – with an added initiative of becoming a Whitehaven Sports Centre Olympic medallist!
“The holiday activities at Whitehaven Sport Centre are a great way of keeping the kids occupied throughout the summer in healthy, safe activities and are very affordable.’’
The centre is continuing to offer trampoling and gymnastics sessions until August 31. For more information call 01946 695666 or check www.northcountryleisure.org.uk.
