During October half term girls took part in skills days across the county with events in Carlisle and Whitehaven. Players from local clubs took part in the skills days, with coaches from the Player Development Centre delivering sessions to the keen girls.

The weather was kind to the players taking part in the Carlisle event, with the sun shining on the girls aged from nine to 12.

The event in West Cumbria was interrupted with some heavy downpours, but this did not put the players off, with girls keen to get back onto the field to continue the sessions.

Girls ranged from age 10 to 13 at Whitehaven with the players split into two groups to work on different techniques before playing small sided games to finish off the successful day.

Girls who attended the ‘Skills Days’ have been invited to attend the Cumberland FA Player Development Centre trials which take place over the next two weeks.

The PDC is an opportunity for girls playing in grassroots clubs to get additional coaching throughout the season as part of The FA’s talent development pathway for girls.

Girls invited to attend the Centre will take part in weekly coaching at Penrith from UEFA B and Level 2 qualified coaches (coaches will also hold The FA Youth Award Modules 1 and 2) before taking part in fixtures against PDC’s from across the North of England.

Girls taking part in the PDC will continue to play and train for their grassroots clubs, the Centre will be additional to their club and will not affect match days.

More details on the Cumberland FA Player Development Centre can be found by visiting www.CumberlandFA.com

Registrations for the trials must be received no later than today.
