Celtic reach County Cup final

CLEATOR Moor Celtic under-18s travelled to Carlisle to play Warwick Wanderers in the semi-final of the County Cup.

On a small tight field Celtic were in for a battle and for 25 minutes that’s what it was with Celtic having all the possession and chances but Warwick always a threat on the break.

Two set pieces then put Celtic in control. Bradley Rooney swung in a free kick and Reece Hughes made a great run to flick it past the keeper to open the scoring.

Five minutes later, this time from a Rooney corner, another angled run had Michael Garroway making it 2-0 to Celtic.

Warwick came out fighting in the second half and put Celtic under pressure with long balls but Celtic’s back four of Robbie Fisher, Paul Woods, Jack Stainton and Michael Garroway held firm with Cole Walker-Taylor calm at all times in the goals.

Celtic’s midfield started to get control of the game with Matt Metcalfe and Bradley Rooney now finding Darren Little and Rhys Little on the wings and looking more dangerous.

The strong running up front from Leon Crellin and Reece Hughes was causing problems for Warwick and it was Hughes who finally killed the game off with his second and Celtics third.

Final score 3-0 on the day with Celtic now reaching the County Cup final alongside the League Cup final.
