Last updated at 11:36, Thursday, 13 December 2012
WINDSCALE took a giant step towards the Tesco Cumberland Premiership title with a 10-0 hammering of close rivals Silloth.
Mike Farrer set the division pace-setters off to a stunning start with a hat-trick in the first six minutes.
Silloth, who started the day in second, got to grips with the game and were able to hold Windscale to just one more Farrer goal before the break.
But in the second half, the visitors ran rampant adding another six strikes to their tally.
Farrer hit two more while Andrew MacDonald (2), Laurie Black and Ryan Lowery completed the rout.
At the other end of the division, second bottom in the table Cleator Moor Celtic were 5-2 victors over bottom side Borough, who remain pointless.
The win lifted Celtic above Carlisle-based Warwick Wanderers.
Mark Robertson and Ryan Benson scored for Borough but no details of scorers have been provided by Celtic.
Longtown were 4-1 winners at Wigton Harriers thanks to goals from Mike Wigham (2), Chris Kelleher and Karl McCue. Jonathan Studdolm hit the consolation for Harriers.
In Division One, Frizington beat struggling St Bees Res 4-1 with goals from Dean Rogers and Craig Williamson plus two from Mike Brown. Ian Wood scored for the visitors.
Parton took all the points with a 3-1 result over Hensingham. Jamie Dorney scored all Parton’s goals while Ryan Benson replied for the visitors.
Workington Red Star beat Windscale Res 6-1. Jamie Brambley netted a hat-trick and there was one goal each for Paul Lomas, John Irvin and Tony Berwick. John Cowley scored for Windscale Res.
In the Smurfitt Kappa Conway Cup round one, Aspatria stroll into the next round with a comfortable 8-1 win at Whitehaven AFC.
On the scoresheet for Aspatria were Ryan Irwin (2), Mark Irwin, Matt Prior, Sean Law, Richard Hudson, Mathew Rudd and Malcolm Graham.
