Tough start for new Celtic supremo

NEW manager Dene White has endured a frustrating start to his Cleator Moor Celtic career – with what would have been his first two games being called off.
Last Wednesday’s trip to Redcar was called off due to the home team’s floodlights failing, and Saturday’s trip to Coxhoe fell victim to the snow.
However, White used Saturday’s Tesco Cumberland County League game against Mirehouse to give some game time to the first team squad in a 4-1 win (see above for match report).
“With only one game played in four weeks it was important that a number of first team lads got a game in,” said White.
“We faced a tough challenge against a decent Mirehouse side. The lads were a little flat in the 0-0 draw with Hartlepool last weekend and I was looking for a response and a performance and I got both.
“Sometimes a 4-1 scoreline doesn’t always reflect an accurate picture of the game but in this case I thought the lads were brilliant and deserved the win, our possession play throughout the 90 minutes was first class.
“Taking nothing away from Mirehouse – they more than got among us – but our quality on the ball and discipline in shape certainly deserved the win
“It’s this type of performance and sharpness that I’m looking for in a very busy month ahead.
“Having fixtures cancelled is very frustrating, not just because of the backlog it’ll build up toward the end of the season but it means we struggle to build up momentum in games and get on a decent run.”
Celtic were due to host Prudhoe Town yesterday (Wednesday), before trips to Sunderland West End (Saturday) and Willington (Monday).
