Frizington regroup to record win

FRIZINGTON regrouped after struggling to field a side in several games last season and enjoyed a healthy turn-out of players for their opening game against St Benedict’s.
Frizington came through to record a 2-0 victory in the first division with goals from Adrian Banks and newcomer Gareth McCarron.
Last year’s division one champions Carlisle Zimmers continued where they left off last year when they demolished rivals Carlisle City 4-0.
Bluebell, from Workington, started brightly with a 3-2 victory at Frenchfields over Penrith and in the Maryport derby Grasslot emerged 2-0 winners over town rivals Netherhall.
In division two, the Howard’s look a strong tip for the title this season, they opened their season strongly with a 2-1 defeat of Moresby at Melbourne Park. Chris Kelly scored for Moresby.
It was a game of two halves at Grassmoor, the first half belonged to league newcomers St Bees who took a 4-1 lead into the half time break with goals from Kevin Fitzwill-iam, Phil Hamand, Andrew Rickerby and Joe Shephard. Then, in a remarkable second half comeback, the home team snatched a victory agai-nst a tiring St Bees team 6-4.
Silloth did everything but score against their visitors Hall Park, who ran out 1-0 victors and Frostoms won by the same scoreline against The Bush.
