Yet more rain!

THE final week of the rain ruined WACCA 11-a-side season saw little action.

The Crisp & Rowell Shield final was rained off for a third time & has now been put back to 2013. 2012 saw only 35 of the scheduled 72 League games played.

Division 2 Champions Workington Juniors were held to 62-9 by Isel as Phil Hind 3-6, Elliott Malloy 3-11 & Matt Eden 2-13 all cashed in. Only one batsman in the match passed 14 – Jimmy Gate with 47* carried Isel singled hand idly to 67-4 & a six wicket victory. The Champions are seen with their trophy in the attached photo.

The other Division 2 game saw Allonby win their first game of the season & condemn Seascale Juniors to last place in the League. Jack Stubbings with 31 ret scored half of their 62-5 with veteran Mike Holyoake 2-8 the pick of the bowlers. Gary Hay with 26* saw Allonby home to 63-2.

The Division 1 Champions Windscale Club, Seascale were presented with their trophy by Chairman Neil Carruthers (attached), yet he was unable to get sufficient players to give them a game. The -5 point penalty condemns Royal George to the bottom of Division 1.

Sandwith Roofing beat WCLS in the other Division 1 match , details to follow.

Only 1 Border Leisure League match was played with a comfortable win for Accies Old Sads, but panic set in when Isel Captain Matt Eden took 2-6 & it took the cool head of Xanthe Sparke to secure a 1 wicket victory with time running out.

The Workington 7s were another victim of the wet Bank Holiday Weekend.
