THE 2011 Downtown Deli Cup final will be contested by defending champions Windscale Club, Seascale and 2009 winners Braithwaite.
Braithwaite won their place in the final, easing past BCMS firstly by holding them to 101-8 with Phil Knight 3-5 doing early damage.
Harry Rigby then smashed 30 retired and Knight completed an excellent all round game by making 33 retired as Braithwaite reached 102-5 to make their second final.
Sandwith Roofing were dismissed for 139 with retirements from Kristian Moffat 31, Jake Daniel 32 and Kyle Galea 30 to post a competitive total.
But Windscale Club, Seascale, had little trouble in making 142-4 as Steve Brown jnr, with 35, and Matthew Fiddler, 34, both retired, leaving Daniel Lee, on 29 not out, to see the visitors home by six wickets.
Allonby won two games in division two, firstly Braithwaite Bears amassed 147-9 with three Bears retiring Lee Meddings, 30, Callum Ward, 33, and Tom Smith, 35. In the face of a stiff target Allonby sauntered home making 148-1 in the rain as Richard Borroughs, 58 and Anthony Andrews, 56, shared an unbroken century partnership.
Dave Smith, with 29, stood alone for Broughton in a total of 74 with Mike Holyoake, 3-8, doing most damage.
Dan McDermott retired on 30 to rapidly reduce the target but Mark Steadman claimed 3-12 to leave the 10-man Allonby side in a parlous state. However, they held their nerve to make 75-8.
Workington Juniors ran up 132-8 against Isel, with only Josh Burns, on 31 retired, passing 20.
James Gate returned to form with a bang smashing five sixes in an unbeaten 75 from 64 balls, in partnership with Matt Eden unbeaten on 30 to see Isel to 133-2 and victory with an over to spare.
The basement battle at the bottom division two took place at Seascale, with both teams conceding 28 extras.
Seascale Juniors made 156-7 thanks to Steve Brown jnr, 35 retired, Andrew Knott, 30 retired, Jack Stubbings, 30 retired and Bruce Kennish, 26, who all made significant runs. E Harfan made 50 on debut for Braithwaite Bears but the remaining batsmen were dismissed as they ended on 135-9.
Cockermouth Academicals only made 71-7 against with Royal George and the George eased to 72-1 thanks to Graeme Cook, 36 retired hurt and Peter Thompson, 30 not out, to leave the Accies pointless at the bottom of division one.
League champions Sandwith Roofing had Kyle Galea 59 and Johnny Irving, 23 not out, to thank for a total of 147-5. BCMS got off to a flyer as Gary Stewardson powered to 33 before retiring but Jake Daniel, with 3-22, helped hold them to 143-9 and secure a vital win.
An eight-man WCLS team suffered at the hands of Braithwaite who made 128-6 built upon Jason Pyke’s 31 retired and Ian Dixon who clattered 56.
WCLS captain Rob Allen was the only real threat. Once he was out for 24, Gilbert Pyke, 3-9, mopped up.
