Weather puts dampner on cup quarter finals

ONLY half of the Sandwith Roofing Cup quarter finals were played as the season got off to a soggy start.
At St Bees School BCMS scraped past their hosts by only seven runs. Lewis Hull 20, Mike Yeoman 21 and Tony Aitken 21 all got retired as BCMS were held to 118-7. Despite retirement scores from John Burns 25 and Gary Quinn 21, the Lawyers were held to 111-9 as Graham Brown 2-9 had the best bowling analysis of the match.
At Cockermouth School Cockermouth Academicals progressed smoothly to the semi finals as their 102-5, was built around three retirements: Lewis Neesham 21, Graham Sparke 21 and Peter Sutton 20. Only two Allonby batsmen Ben Kyte 23 and Anthony Andrews 21 got retirements as they were dismissed for 68. Lewis Neesham 2-6 and the form horse Paul Heap 2-1 were the chief wicket takers.
Royal George v Sandwith Roofing and Workington Juniors v Broughton are to be rearranged.
