THE Sandwith Roofing Cup began in arctic conditions at Cockermouth School with a predictably comfortable win for Cockermouth Academicals over Isel.
The Academicals had four batsmen to thank for their total of 93-6. Ryan Carruthers 19, Lewis Neesham 14, Jack Edmondson 20 retired and the evergreen Malcolm Dixon, 16 not out.
Isel began slowly and only reached 59 thanks to 14 extras.
The early bowlers kept thing tight before Steve Hornsby, 2-3 and Paul Heap, 3-0, cashed in and sent Isel into the Crisp & Rowell Shield.
Sandwith Roofing Cup quarter finals are now: Cockermouth Academicals v Allonby; Royal George v Sandwith Roofing; WCLS v BCMS; Workington Juniors v Broughton.
