Cleator only need two for easy win over Whitehaven

DESPITE professional Saliya Saman’s 52 not out, Carlisle could only reach 132 for five in their 50 overs against the Premier Division champions Furness.
In reply the Furness batsmen also struggled and despite Lee Readitt’s four for 22, just managed the win at 133 for 9.
Keswick’s batsmen were given a ‘going over’ by the Haverigg attack and in less than 22 overs were all out for a mere 58.
Back from soccer, Craig Armstrong returned six for 28 in 10.2 overs, and professional Brendan Parchment three for 27 in 11 overs.
Haverigg soon sealed an easy win at 61 for 1, Robert Bell making 26no.
In a high scoring game at the Recreation Centre, Kirkby went to a very creditable 213 for 7, Mike Fugler leading the way with 134no.
After tea, Penrith also found conditions good for batting and with deputy pro Mike Price making 111no, took winning points at 215 for four.
Lindal Moor’s batting again faltered in their home game with Cockermouth and were all out for 86, Colin Knight top scored with 26, professional Weththasinghe taking four for 15 and Chris Hodgson four for 32.
Cockermouth went to a comfortable win at 89 for four, Gareth White making 36no. Lindal’s Ben Osborne bowled seven good overs to take three for 23.
Whitehaven entertained Cleator and taking first knock could not handle the visitor’s attack, and were all back in the pavilion with only 64 on the board.
David Blackwell, three for 0, David Bell, three for 11, and Shaheen Khan, three for 21 doing the damage.
Cleator went to an easy win at 66 for two, Chris Quin making 31no.
Workington at home to Millom never looked comfortable against the Millom attack, with only Kris Moffat really getting in, to make 36, and after 50 overs were 151 for nine.
Millom pro Geeth Alwis, three for 19 off 15 overs, and Graham Dawson 3 for 37 in his 15 overs were the main wicket takers. After tea Millom went to a comfortable win at 152 for two in 40 overs. Geeth Alwis, 86no, Simon Bickerstaffe, 31, and Graham Dawson 23no, getting the runs.
Egremont, at home to Dalton, batted first and struggled to cope, and despite 31 from Ian Littleton and 30 from Gavin Parkinson, were 123 for nine when overs ran out.
For Dalton, John Bell carried on where he left off last week, taking five for 24 from 13 overs.
In reply the Dalton top order, with the exception of Dan Sharpe, 34, also found runs hard to get.
It took the eighth wicket pair, Tony Butler, 29no, and Brian Bell, 18no, to see Dalton home at 127 for seven. Egremont’s Richard Booth took three for 47.
It wasn’t a day for batsmen at Rainey Park, Vickerstown batting first could only muster 125 all out with Craig Pickering top scoring with 32.
In reply Lanercost had one of those days and collapsed to be all out for 32.
Hawcoat Park went in first at Penrith II and after 50 overs were 168 for eight, Ben Richardson top scoring with 39no.
For Penrith Robbie White returned three for 35. Penrith II went to their first win in Division 1 at 170 for 7.
For Hawcoat Park, Adam Hunter took four for 48.
At home to Workington II, Wigton went to 160 for nine at teatime, Masoud Aziz 44, and Mike Hill 43, were Wigton’s top scorers.
The Workington evergreen Paul McKeown took four for 23.
In reply Workington’s Jordan Whinn made 65 out of a total of 126.
Wigton’s Mike Hill took six for 33.
Ulverston took first knock in their home game with Seascale, and found runs had to be worked for, and with 44 from Jonathan Blain, with support from Steve Olliver, 28, and Gareth Yates, 25, went into tea 136 all out.
Seascale’s Graham Parker wih three for six in eight overs and Andrew Knott three for 12 from four did most of the damage.
In reply, despite Robin Sparshott’s 50 and Adam Brown’s 36, Seascale went to 122 all out. Jack Dryden, five for 35 in 12.5 overs and Stuart Cooper four for 37 in 15 overs bowled their side to a good win.
A weakened Cleator II were at home to Appleby Eden and at tea were 137 for nine. The visitors went on to win at 139 for six.
