THE venue for the upcoming indoor five-a-side touch rugby league has been confirmed as Whitehaven’s St Benedict’s School.
The event will be starting on Thursday, January 19 and will be running from 7-9pm for 10 weeks.
Squads can be made up of a maximum of 10 players. The games will be five-a-side with unlimited substitutions made. Each team will play two 20 minute games per week and the cost for entry is £20 per week per team which equates to £2 per person.
RFL League for All officer, Matt Jefferson, said: “Touch rugby league is good for fitness, toning and being active without visiting the gym; it’s also a great social game which you can play with your friends.
“It’s simple and easy to learn, and there is no tackling involved like in the full contact game, a simple touch constitutes as a play the ball so there is minimal risk of injury.
“This would be an excellent opportunity for clubs to get involved for their pre season training, which would lead nicely into the start of their summer season.
“Each team will enjoy themed weeks and events, administration for the league including fixtures, leagues and team packs, two 20 minute games per week and qualified referees in charge of all matches.”
Spaces are limited so it will be first come first served. If you are interested in entering the league please confirm with Matt on 07775 022799 or email: matt.jefferson@rfl.uk.com
