Rangers bounce back after whizz start by Wigan boys

EGREMONT Rangers travelled to the form team in NCL Division 1 Wigan St Judes in confident mood.
That confidence was soon knocked as the Wigan side scored three tries in the first 15 minutes all unconverted.
Egremont were finding it hard to get a foothold in the game but that changed with the introduction of Richard Farrar.
The Wigan pack couldn’t get to grips with the big man and on the back of his barnstorming runs hooker Alistair Leak dashed 30 metres to the line on 20 minutes.
That try changed the whole completion of the match as Egremont now upped their game and on 21 minutes John Paul Brocklebank crossed and also added the extras.
The game was now being played at an incredibly fast pace that even the injured Thomas Leuliau on the sideline couldn’t have failed to have been impressed.
Half time came with Saints holding a slender 12 - 10 lead.
St Judes came out for the second half in confident mood throwing everything at the Mont defence, some great scrambling defence from Egremont keeping them out.
Another punishing run by Farrar ended with John Paul Brocklebank touching down in the corner on 48minutes despite the efforts of three St Judes’ defenders.
Then came the game breaker: Jack Stainton fending off a much larger defender and setting off on a mazy run then crashing over by the posts JP converted.
Sixty minutes and Leak collected his second try like the wee poacher that he is spinning out of a tackle from dummy half JP converted.
St Judes weren’t about to lie down though and crossed for 2 more tries one converted.
Egremont ended the hosts supporters hopes when on 78 minutes Leon (Smokin Joe) Crellin got on the end of a deft Brocklebank kick to score, Brocklebank converted.
Final score: Wigan St Judes 22 Egremont Rangers 32.
A great result on the road for this entertaining young side, this was a tough test, which was passed well and with flying colours.
Alistair Leak MOM was back to his cheeky best but there were super performances all round. Jack Stainton was magnificent and Richard Farrar blasted holes in St Jude’s defence.
