Hensingham unveil new head coaches

HENSINGHAM Rugby League Club has unveiled their two new head coaches: Howard Hill and Chris McKinney.

Sponsors: The new kit was presented by Stobbarts (Mike Taylor and Garrie Simpson) to Hensingham ARFLC (from left to right: Mark Adams, Jon Pilkington, Chris Dodd and Richard Morton). With special thanks to Thwaites Brewery and Whitehaven Embroidery

The two former Super League and Haven players were unveiled at the club’s launch night which doubled as their awards evening and vice presidents night. Former St Helens star Sean Long was guest speaker and presented the awards.

It was also announced that Stobbarts civil engineering firm will sponsor the club once more.

Hensingham club secretary, Chris Dodd, said: “After a couple of bad years, it’s all starting to come together now.

“It’s fantastic that Stobbarts are sponsoring us despite the tough economic times.

“We’re hoping some former players and some new ones will now come forward and join the club.”

Both new head coaches started out at Hensingham as juniors and progressed to Super League before finishing their careers back at Whitehaven RLFC. This is their first coaching role in the game and both of them are relishing the opportunity.

Training nights are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can contact the club on 01946 694941.
