Golden points wins it for Kells

FOR the second time this season an Iggesund Cumberland ARL play-off game went to extra time.
Two weeks ago Aspatria ran away from Ellenborough in the extra time period to win their Division Two play-off clash.
This time, however, Great Clifton and Kells A could not be separated after extra-time and it needed a golden point to decide the contest. Dan Joyce scored a try for Kells AS to give them a 14-10 victory.
Clifton were winning 6-0 at half time although Kells had levelled by the end. Joyce and Nathan Mann scored tries for Kells A, one of which was converted by Ben Milburn.
Extra time failed to produce a winning score and it was sudden death when Joyce went in again for the golden points.
In the Division One play-off game Distington, beaten by Kells, won at the second attempt. They beat Glasson Rangers 22-6 after leading 10-6 at half-time.
Distington scored four tries from Stephen Newall, Aiden Worthington, Gavin Martin and Grant Dryden. Scott George kicked three goals.
This Saturday’s play-off games are: Division One - Distington v Maryport.
Division Two: Aspatria v Kells A with the winners taking on Flimby.
