RL legend Garry Schofield will present a defibrillator to West Cumbria Masters team, in memory of their former player George Hunton next weekend.

The defibrillator will be housed at the Adams Hall, in Arlecdon, where the club is based, for the use of anyone in the village.

And Schofield will make the handover on Saturday, September 23, to the family of the late Mr Hunton, who have helped to raise the £1,300 needed for the vital piece of life-saving equipment.

"We have got the defibrillator through the Danny Jones Trust with money raised from people at George's funeral," said Masters spokesman Dave Farrell.

"We are having a memorial evening on September 23 and George's family will be there, along with Garry Schofield, and the presentation will be held during the night.

"It is also a good chance for everyone to come along and listen to Garry's memories of playing rugby league. He is a real character of the game."

On the bill there is also a comedian, a rugby memorabilia auction and a hot buffet. Tickets are £10 and are available from Arlecdon Post Office or from Graeme Gilpin on 07808 970663. The night starts at 7pm.

The day will begin in the afternoon when West Cumbria Masters take on Barrow Masters at 2pm.
