Dave Hewson says he is not reading anything into Workington Reds' move up the league ladder.

Following Tuesday night's hard fought 2-1 win over Marine, Reds moved up to eighth in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

But co-manager Hewson says it is too early in the season to worry about league position.

"It's very early days in terms of the league taking shape and I'm not reading too much into league positions or anything like that at the moment," said Hewson.

"More importantly it is about us continuing to grind out results at times, like we did on Tuesday night."

Reds had to fight all the way for the win on Tuesday at Borough Park, especially after playing most of the second half with just 10 men after Conor Tinnion was shown the red card.

And they must knuckle down again on Saturday as they look to make it four wins in a row as Coalville Town head to West Cumbria.

Hewson said he would like his side to up their game but admitted sometimes you just have to tough it out.

"Hopefully we play much better, in terms of the football we can play, on Saturday which is important," he said.

"But everybody just wants three points and at times in this league you have to get three points the ugly way.

"We were pleased with Tuesday's win but we will take nothing for granted.

"We will now go forward with confidence into Saturday and what will be another tough game."

Coalville are coming into Saturday's game on the back of a 2-1 defeat on Monday by third placed Stourbridge.

But they would have been upset not to get a share of the spoils with a late goal sealing the points for the Glassboys.

And Coalville will still be a force to be reckoned with at Borough Park as they lie two places above Reds in the table.
