Whitehaven have wasted no time in re-signing Danny Green for the 2018 season.

Green, a centre or winger, signed from the Hares Finch amateur club halfway through the 2017 season.

He made his debut in the 25-20 victory over Doncaster back in June, making four appearances in total.

Player-coach Carl Forster said: “I’m really pleased to have Danny back again. He deserved to be rewarded with a contract.

“I thought he came into the team really well, doing all the right things and he knows it’s a learning process for him.

“With a good pre-season under his belt, and more time to learn, I think he can really nail down a position this season and become a top squad player.

“His attitude with everything is first class and we’re all happy to have him again this year.”

Green is the 11th player signed for Forster’s 2018 squad. The coach is looking to operate this coming season with a squad of 21/22 players.

Last time round, Haven went into battle with 27 on the register but have lost virtually all the amateurs they had signed during last winter.

Forster is also looking to play three pre-season warm-up games.

“Our annual game with Workington for the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy is going to be at home, while I expect to arrange a game on the artificial surface at Newcastle,” said Forster.

“If I can fit in one other game on top of those, I will be pleased.”
