Up and coming Whitehaven darts star Kieran Timmins is setting his sights on some of the big names on the board.

Timmins is hoping to eventually appear alongside some of his heroes including Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson by going to the PDC qualifying school.

The school runs from January 18 to 21 but Timmins will need to find around £700 for the entry fee and travelling.

So the 18-year-old has set up a crowdfunding page to try and raise the cash and the generous teenager says if he raises more than his target he will donate the remainder to Hensingham ARLFC's youth section.

"If I can get a tour card from the qualifying school I would be able to play with the likes of van Gerwen and Anderson, which would be my dream," said Timmins.

Timmins was introduced to the game by his father and the love affair with darts began.

He has now been playing for six years and he now features for Hensingham ARLFC in the Hensingham and District Darts League.

The Whitehaven Academy sixth form pupil has also played for the county youth team and won the Hensingham league's singles trophy back in October.

But he now wants to challenge himself even further with the four-day qualifying school.

"If you win the school then you get a PDC tour card," explained Timmins.

"They also accumulate your points over the event and there is an order of merit, with some of the top scores there also getting a card."

Timmins is holding a six hour darts marathon on December 28 at Hensingham ARLFC to raise funds.
