Whitehaven Miners Social put nine goals past Salterbeck without reply to cement their place in midtable in the under-14s division of West Cumbria Youth League.

Cockermouth beat Seaton 3-2 to close the gap to their opponents, while a 3-1 win for Maryport against Whitehaven AFC and a 7-1 victory for Cleator Moor Celtic against St Bees kept the pressure on table-toppers Workington Wanderers Whites.

Under-12s division leaders Maryport AFC were held to a 4-4 draw by Whitehaven Miners Social in a shock result, while Workington Wolves breezed past Aspatria with a 7-1 win.

Workington Reds were too strong for Senhouse Stars as they won 5-2 and St Bees edged past Seaton United 3-2.

Cleator Moor Celtic closed in on Workington Rangers in the under-13s division by beating Workington Reds White 5-1 but the pick of the games was a seven-goal thriller between Cockermouth and Maryport Athletic which finished 4-3 to the latter.

Senhouse Stars beat Windscale 4-0 and Moor Row were beaten 4-1 by St Bees.

In the under-16s division, Maryport AFC stayed top with a comfortable 7-0 victory against Bransty Rangers but Workington Reds Black stayed in the chase by beating Seaton 8-0.

Whitehaven AFC battled to the end against Moor Row but they just fell short as the visitors won 5-4.

It is now four wins from four games in the under-18s division for Cleator Moor Celtic, who won 5-2 at home to Workington Reds.

An under-12 girls Futsal cup competition saw Workington Diamonds Red win 3-2 against Allerdale Orange, while Cockermouth were 7-2 victors against Workington Diamonds White and Whitehaven AFC Black beat Cockermouth Blue 9-0.

Whitehaven AFC's Blue side beat Allerdale Black 3-2 and their Yellow team earned a 5-3 victory against Whitehaven AFC.
