St Bees started 2018 in the right way with just their second win of the season against Workington Reds in the under-14s division of the West Cumbria Youth League.

A 9-0 win moved St Bees one place up the league table into 10th, although they were not in such fine form the following day as they went down 4-2 against Cockermouth.

Workington Wanderers Whites stayed top of the table with a 5-2 win against Whitehaven Miners Social but in the chasing pack Maryport AFC and Cleator Moor Celtic both earned 5-0 wins against Aspatria and Seaton respectively.

In the under-12s division, Whitehaven Amateur Blue hosted Seaton United in an eagerly awaited top of the table clash but the first half saw both teams cancel each other out and chances at a premium.

The Blue team upped their game in the second half as a great run from Zak Walker saw the ball break to Callum Wilson who slotted the ball home. Wilson soon added a second from a Josh Foster through ball and the game was sealed as a great corner kick from Emre Ozdemir was turned in by Walker.

A late penalty saw goalkeeper Dylan Cromwell rifle home to make it 4-0 and keep Whitehaven top of the league.

Aspatria went down 6-0 against Whitehaven Miners Social, while Moor Row were 9-0 victors against Workington Reds and Workington Wolves scrapped to a 6-4 win against a gutsy Bransty Rangers side.

Back-to-back victories saw Workington Rangers leapfrog a number of teams to go top of the under-13s division, beating St Bees 9-0 and Cockermouth 6-1

Previous leaders Whitehaven AFC lost 9-2 against Bransty Rangers, while struggling Windscale were beaten 9-1 by Dearham Rangers.

The only game to go ahead in the under-16s division saw Moor Row see off Workington Reds White to win 4-2.
