Mirehouse boxer Gary Wood is looking for that knockout punch this weekend when he takes centre stage at Clash of the Titans 20.

Wood is looking to lift the COTT heavyweight title in his toughest test to date at St Benedict's Rugby Union club on Saturday night.

After destroying Nottingham's Kev Barker last time out he will go head to head with the 6'3" and 20 stone Kaseem Saleem from Dumfries.

The two fighters are big heavy handed boxers and fireworks are expected when the two of them collide for the right to claim the gold

Joint top of the card will be Jordan "The Hitman" Holmes in a contest with Blackpool's talented Wayne O'Neill.

Holmes started on COTT before progressing as a standout mixed martial arts talent which has earned him a place at the world famous Jackson Wink in New Mexico, USA.

On what will be an emotional night he will be looking to bow out in style

There are other notable bouts as the talented Alfie Poole will take on Manchester's Thomas Murry and another Mirehouse lad John Ennis will be taking on Andrew Davies of Blackpool who has a stellar reputation on the boxing scene both gloved and bare knuckle

One bout of huge local interest sees Workington heavyweight James Dixon lock horns with Carl "Wammo" Walmsley.

Walmsley is a huge popular figure in Mirehouse for his work both in the community and as a charity fundraiser and will have a large support behind him

Event promoter Dave Straughton said: "This is without a doubt one of the best COTT cards we've managed to put together.

"It has something for everyone and has a number of outstanding contests. The two co main events will be worth the admission alone.

"This is a one off chance for people to see Jordan Holmes on home soil and when two heavyweights collide someone's going to sleep."
