Former St Bees school pupil Jen Warren started her Invictus Games campaign with five medals and has picked up a further three in the swimming finals.

Jen had already claimed silver in the women's IT4/IT5 1500m, 400m and 200m finals, and bronze in the IT4 100m final, setting personal bests in all four in Toronto.

She clinched a silver medal in the women's handcycling IHB1/IHB2 time trial final and added gold to that in the women's handcycling IHB1/IHB2 criterium final.

She then entered the pool and won gold in the ISA/ISB 50m breaststroke final in a time of 58.64.

Jen also added two silvers in the 50 and 100m freestyle finals in times of 37.05 and 1:24.55 respectively.

Veteran Army Major Dr Warren, who lives in Rugby, Warwickshire, with her husband Jon, from Cockermouth, was vice-captain of the UK squad.

Cockermouth solder Cockermouth soldier Luke Reeson added four more medals to his Invictus Games tally over the weekend.

Luke, a corporal in the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment who was shot in both legs by the Taliban in Afghanistan, picked up four silver medals in the pool in Toronto.

He was just pipped on time by the Netherlands' Gert van't Oever in each event.

Luke began with the 50m freestyle where he finished in a time of 26.89 seconds.

He then tackled the 50m backstroke in a time of 34.23 before recording 34.76 in the 50m breaststroke final.

He capped a fine night with the 100m freestyle final, where he bagged silver again in a time of 1:01.33.

The Invictus Games is an international Paralympic-style event created by Prince Harry in 2014.

And after another successful Games in Toronto, Prince Harry has indicated he would like to expand the event, saying the 'sky's the limit'.

The Games saw 17 nations come together for the week-long event.
