Egremont wrestler Johnny Moss is proving to be an international king of the ring – after collecting a trio of prestigious titles.

Moss, who runs the School of Hard Knocks and Hammerlocks in his hometown, has captured titles in Qatar, Portugal and Germany this month – and could add a fourth to his collection when he competes in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday night (May 27).

“To win three different titles in three different countries within a week is certainly something I'm proud of! It was a very hectic week,” said Moss, who will line up in the new series of ITV’s World of Sport Wrestling to be broadcast this summer.

The show in Qatar saw Moss defeat three other competitors to become the King of Qatar Champion.

“There were 4,000 people in the crowd and the show was headlined by wrestling legends like Sting, Rey Mysterio, John Morison, Carlito, Albert Del Rio and Al Snow. “There was a scary moment though when we had abandon a press conference for the show when the crowd pushed over the barriers and mobbed the wrestlers!”

His second success came in Lisbon, Portugal, when he captured the European Championship from a Portugese wrestler Bammer, who had held the title for over six years, and he completed a hat-trick of titles by defeating El Hijo Del Dos Caras and Demolition Davies to win the Intercontinental Championship in Bremen, Germany.

“I was definitely a match to remember, as I suplexed them both - and the ring collapsed!” added Moss.“August this year will mark the 20th year I've been in the wrestling business, and the last 12 months have been my most rewarding yet.

“From working for WWE as coach at its performance centre in Florida, to appearing in front of millions on ITV's World of Sport, to this recent tour and trio of titles, I thought I would have been winding down but I'm actually getting busier.

“The school is open seven days a week now too, with some really great kids coming through.”
