Bransty and Cleator Moor Celtic's under-16 sides played out a nine-goal thriller at the weekend in the West Cumbria Youth League.

In the end fifth placed Bransty just had slightly more in the tank to clinch the 5-4 victory and league points on offer.

But Celtic are still flying high in third, with games still in hand on some of their rivals.

In the same division, Maryport Athletic got the better of Cockermouth's under-15 side 6-3.

There was joy for Maryport in the Under-14 League Cup, as they enjoyed a 6-0 victory over hosts St Bees.

And in the under-14 league, Cleator Moor Celtic enjoyed a 3-1 success over rivals Whitehaven AFC, while Whitehaven Miners Social defeated Salterbeck 9-1 away from home.

In the under-13 league, Workington Reds White side edged out Dearham Rangers 5-2 and Bransty had a convincing 9-3 win over St Bees.

There was also one game in the Under-13 League Cup where Whitehaven AFC got the better of Maryport Athletic 7-1.

Turning to the under-12 division, Whitehaven AFC Yellows had a Friday night win at Bransty 9-2 while their Blue side went to neighbours Whitehaven Miners Social and made it a double celebration with a 4-1 victory.

Seaton United narrowly edged out St Bees in a nine-goal encounter, winning 5-4 and Maryport got on the right end of a 5-3 scoreline against Workington Reds.

Turning to the girls and in the under-12 futsal competition, Whitehaven Yellows beat their own White team 4-3 while their Blues won 3-0 against Allerdale Girls' Orange side.

Cockermouth Juniors Blues were 3-1 victors over Workington Diamonds' White side.
