South Lakes hotel wins top award

A LAKE District hotel is celebrating after its restaurant scooped a top regional food and drink award.
The Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel near Windermere has been honoured with the award of ‘Lake District Restaurant of the Year’ in the Lancashire and Lake District Life Food and Wine Awards 2009/2010.
A panel of independent industry experts narrowed the number of Lake District restaurants down to a shortlist of three and Lindeth Howe’s ‘Dining Room’ restaurant was chosen as the overall winner.
The award will be presented during a gala dinner at Manchester’s Abode Hotel on September 22.
Stephen Broughton, director of Lindeth Howe, said: “It’s a real honour to be named as the Lake District Restaurant of the Year in the Lancashire and Lake District Life Food and Wine Awards. We’re very proud that the efforts of the team both in the kitchen and front of house are being recognised. They work hard to look after all our guests with great service and menus using locally sourced ingredients.” Executive head chef at Lindeth Howe is Marc Guibert, who has has 20 years’ catering experience on both sides of the English Channel, including leading roles at ‘Relais & Chateaux’ hotels and multi Michelin-star restaurant training with renowned chefs, Michel Roux and Jean-Marie Amat.
