School secretary says farewell

A Workington woman who has worked in the same school for 37 years is retiring today.
Rosaline Hoare has been school administrator at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Salterbeck, since 1975.
She started as a secretary working two days a week, mainly collecting dinner money.
This became a full-time post, dealing with administration. She is one of the longest-serving school administrators in the county.
Mrs Hoare, 64, of Poole Road, said: “I have most enjoyed meeting all the children and their parents. Some of the pupils I met in 1975 are grandparents now, so I have known all three generations.”
Mrs Hoare said she was looking forward to spending more time with her grandchildren Dion and Claudia, in Surrey.
She and her husband David, who was one of the bus inspectors who helped to direct traffic away from Northside Bridge before it collapsed during the 2009 floods, are planning a trip to see them.

Ros is one of the kindest, nicest people you could wish to meet. I first met her when my son Stuart attended St, Mary's. The children loved her, she always had a kind word and nothing was too much bother for her. I worked in the Post office at Harrington, before moving to Cyprus last year, and Ros would often come in, we always had a good old crack. Stephen and I wish you many happy years in you're retirement Ros, you certainly deserve them.
