Ruth Edger, 28, a service department manager at Keswick Superglaze, and Gary Hutchinson, 27, a machine operator at Coulthard’s Concrete, Silloth, live in Maryport
HOW THEY MET: Through work in 2004.
PROPOSAL: Gary placed a white gold, diamond solitaire ring on the Christmas tree on Christmas Day, 2005 then got down on one knee.
VENUE: Cockermouth Registry Office.
THEME: Gold and ivory.
BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A dark ivory imperial satin dress with pleated detail at the waist, a flowing chiffon train with flowers, pearl and rosette design, a fitted bolero jacket. A Swarovski crystal tiara, all from Champagne Brides, Workington.
GROOMSMEN: The groom’s brother Andrew Hutchinson was best man and the bride’s nephew Benjamin Atherton was page boy. Close family friend Graham Atkinson gave the bride away. The groom and best man wore dark grey suits with tailcoats from Tom Little Formal Hire, Maryport with gold embroidered waistcoat and pale gold cravats.
BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sister Fiona Edger and best friend Rachel Jones were chief bridesmaids and wore gold prom style dresses from Debenhams.
The bride’s niece Rachel Atherton, the groom’s sister Rebecca Robinson, the groom’s niece Charlotte Hopkin and groom’s cousin Coralie Morgan were bridesmaids. They wore ivory dresses with gold flowers on the skirt from Debenhams.
FLOWERS: The bride carried a posy of ivory roses and ivory freesias set with small crystals, from Cottage Garden, Cockermouth.
TRANSPORT: A black Range Rover provided by a family friend.
RECEPTION: Champagne reception for 40 guests at The Tithe Barn, Cockermouth followed by a Bucks Fizz toast and three course meal. Evening reception at The Saints Rooms, Cockermouth for a further 50 guests.
TABLE SETTINGS: Ivory candles on mirror circles, gold heart table confetti, bubbles, gold disposable cameras and gold rose petals, made by the bride.
FAVOURS: Gold organza bag with small teddy, mini love hearts, ivory heart chocolates and personal message cards for the ladies and gold organza bags with lottery scratch card and mini chocolate bar for the men, made by the bride.
CATERING: Town and Country, Workington provided a cold buffet for 100 in the evening.
CAKE: Three-tier ivory, plain sponge and fruit cake decorated with gold hearts, figurines and crystals, by Creative Cakes, Maryport.
FIRST DANCE: Heaven (Candlelight version), DJ Sammy.
ENTERTAINMENT: Disco provided by The Saint’s Room.
HONEYMOON: Cyprus.
