Rob Jackson parts company with Whitehaven rugby club

Rob Jackson is likely to have played his last game for Whitehaven after five years at the Recreation Ground.
The Lancashire-based centre joined the club after featuring 26 times for Leigh in their doomed 2005 Super League season and was a first-choice player throughout his Recre career.
The 29-year-old had earlier top-flight experience with London Broncos and slotted straight in to Haven’s back line.
Last term he made 21 appearances in their relegation campaign, scoring four tries, and he was given the chance to return next term in Championship One.
“David Seeds and myself have spoken at length to Rob about his future,” said assistant coach Les Ashe.
“But with getting married recently and a lengthy honeymoon in Australia, he thought it was probably not right for him to come back at the moment.
“He’s had offers, but he’s pretty disappointed to leave Whitehaven and will miss the club tremendously. He had the club at heart.
“From a personal point of view, he was a tremendous player to work with and a consummate professional.”
Haven have plenty of cover in the centres. Scott McAvoy looks certain to full one of the berths with new signing Andrew Beattie possibly in contention for the other slot.
