With easy access to Whitehaven town centre and Sellafield, and a primary school just down the road, this modernised and well-presented terraced home is ideal for people looking to get a foot on the property ladder.

Chris Davidson, who shares the house with his girlfriend Amy Hodgson, has lived on the popular estate of Hollins Park for about four years.

"I'm from the area and obviously knew of this estate as it was built about 30 years but I didn't know this house," he said.

"However, when I viewed it I liked the fact that it had three double bedrooms and an enclosed lawned garden right outside the back door - not because I'm a gardener but because I have a dog and the garden is ideal, a nice safe place.

"I wasn't so keen on the property's decor which was all pretty dated. It also had wood panelling in a lot of places which made it look dark – there were a couple of ceilings like that and it was right round the kitchen as well.

"So it has had a new kitchen, new carpets and floors right through and we’ve made it much fresher and brighter."

As well as the enclosed garden for the dog, new dining kitchen and the three bedrooms, Chris's home also has a hallway leading to the living room which has ceiling coving and a rose and is warmed by a feature fire. Upstairs is a three-piece bathroom with P-shaped bath and tiled walls.

The landing has a built-in airing cupboard, one bedroom has a built-in double wardrobe and another has a cupboard over the stairs.

Outside at the front is a driveway with space for parking and leading to a single garage, and a garden with gravel and shrubs.

Having transformed the space from its previous rather dingy look, Chris says that the dining kitchen is his favourite spot in the house.

It is a good size at almost 14ft by 10ft and has a range of contemporary wall and floor units with a light-coloured gloss finish, complementary dark work surfaces and uup-to-the-minute white Metro tiles.

There are ceiling spotlights, the floor is covered in attractive dark grey tiling and there are integrated appliances of cooker and hob, extractor, fridge-freezer and dishwasher.

A door leads to the patio overlooking the back garden. "This gets the sun all afternoon and evening and is a lovely place to sit out with a drink," Chris said.

He works at Sellafield so his house is ideally placed for travel and other amenities include the fact that there is a bakery close by, and a primary school in the village.

"When we bought the house it had been extended over the garage. The master bedroom now runs the whole length of the garage with windows to front and back and is a good size.

"Quite a few houses on the estate have converted the garage to living space so that could easily be done here and is a great option for increasing the living space."

He and Amy want to stay in Moor Row when they move and are looking for a bigger house.

Chris said: "We're not on a main through road here and it's very quiet. We'll miss this peace and tranquillity but looking forward to the next stage in our lives."
