With a park on the doorstep, a corner shop just a street away and also convenient for Workington town centre, this beautifully presented mid-terraced property is ideal for a range of buyers.

Glynn Davies bought the house five years as a first-time buyer and it holds a special place in his heart as it where he and his partner started their family.

It is unusual in being three storeys, with a converted attic space where Glynn has created a bit of a man cave to escape to at the end of a stressful day.

Looking back to when he bought the house, Glynn said: "The location of the property within the town was a big deal for me, close to the town centre and with a local shop only one street away which was beneficial for essential items such as bread and milk.

"It is also only a stone’s throw away from Vulcan Park too, which is an ideal area for a quiet peaceful walk with children or pets. The house itself felt warm and comforting from the very start as well as providing everything that I required.

"It was a great first home that has plenty of space and storage options to suit all needs."

He has done a lot of work to his home, which has a vestibule to the entrance hall and a living room with cast-iron feature fireplace in a wooden surround and archway through to a dining area with second fireplace.

A door leads from the dining area into the kitchen fitted with wall and floor units and complementary work surfaces, integrated appliances, a tiled floor, understairs cupboard and door to a utility room.

Off the first-floor landing is another storage area, two bedrooms and an impressive four-piece bathroom with shower cubicle and built-in cupboards. The attic, which measures 15t by 12ft, has a Velux rooflight, exposed beams and under-eaves storage.

Glynn, who works at Sellafield, moved to Workington from Whitehaven. "At the time of weighing up my options and deciding where to live I was working at a factory in Siddick so the move through to Workington made a lot of sense."

He has done a lot of work to his house, including his man cave which he says is his favourite place.

"The whole house has been decorated throughout since moving in. The utility room has been rejuvenated and modernised to be brought up to the standard of the rest of the house.

"The third bedroom/loft conversion is a big deal in these houses. There are lots of different options for what the room could be used for and it makes the house a lot more appealing for first-time buyers and families."

Glynn has also improved the back yard area: "I've created a decked area to make the most of the evening sun in the summer months. You can relax in private there.

"Also, the rear of the property is not overlooked by another row of terraced houses, which is quite rare for these style of houses. Although there is no garden, when you have Vulcan Park on your doorstep you don’t really need one."

He is selling up as he has plans to development another home but will miss the convenient location of his Albert Street house and the delights of 14-acre Vulcan Park: "I've taken it for granted but that's what you do, isn't it?"

The property in Albert Street, Workington, is for sale at £95,000 from Cumbrian Properties. For more details see here .
