Stephanie Meares relocated to west Cumbria for work and bought this brand new home nearly two years ago. Now another work move beckons, one which she will undertake with her partner Graham.

"If it wasn't for that then I would stay here as I've been very happy in this house," she said. "It's on a small estate with lovely neighbours and it hasn't needed anything doing to it in all the time I've been here.

"It hasn't even needed decorating - it's all still in neutral colours throughout and someone who buys it wouldn't need to do anything to it."

The semi-detached in Dearham's St Mungo's Close is an ideal starter home and is for sale with no onward chain and with eight years still left on the NHBC guarantee. Built by renowned local firm Story Homes, it is constructed to the best of modern standards and is very energy-efficient.

"My bills are very low, it's a really warm insulated house and in the winter I often don't even need the heating on," Stephanie said.

The house is tucked away on a small cul-de-sac. The front garden has parking for up to three cars, according to Stephanie, and there is additional lay-by parking opposite.

It has a good-sized front room and a dining kitchen with high-gloss wall and floor units, complementary work surfaces and an integrated oven, hob and extractor fan.

A patio door leads to the back garden - "It's nice to be able to entertain and have that outside space where you can slip in and out of the kitchen," Stephanie said - and there is a cloakroom off the rear lobby.

Two bedrooms and a three-piece bathroom are on the first floor. "I can see views of the fells looking towards Keswick from the upstairs windows which is lovely," Stephanie said.

"I love this whole house, I don't have a favourite room. It's in perfect condition, immaculate, and feels homely and cosy. And it feels safe on a tucked-away estate.

"There is a variety of people living here and they're a great bunch, everyone speaks to each other and are polite and friendly. In summer all the residents organise a garden party and everyone gets along really nicely.

"The garden is really large, all grassed with the small patio bit with table and chairs. There'e a shed and it's all quite private, with a fence either side which is quite tall and it's not really overlooked at all really.

"The front garden has two beds and double parking spaces at the front. In fact if you park two parallel to each other you could even fit a third behind and there's a lay-by directly opposite my house which is available for anyone to park on. There's a side path down to the back garden and the back door.

"I liked the fact that it was a new-build house so you have no issues with it. It doesn't need decorating, it's modern and has everything you need," said Stephanie.

"It hasn't needed anything doing to it since I bought it. It's light and airy, new and fresh and easy to look after.

"I'll miss this house, so much so that we've been looking at other new-build Story homes over towards Carlisle where we need to be for work.

"I would recommend this house to anybody - it has been a brilliant first house and if Graham and I didn't have to move for work I would stay put. I've been more than happy here."

The property in St Mungo's Close, Dearham, Maryport, is for sale at £126,950 from Cumberland Estate Agents. For more details see here .
