SIR – I have been very interested in the reporting of the developments relating to the Energy Coast Strategy. As a person with an interest in business strategy, my view is that in principle, this is a sound approach, making best use of geographical, funding, people and timing issues to deliver real potential benefits to the west coast and beyond. But look out for the word potential.

SIR – I am a partner in a small family business in Whitehaven and the reason I’m writing this letter is that I have just been ticketed again by our over-zealous traffic wardens. My crime was parking outside our shop in our delivery van, emblazoned with our logo, outside our bright pink shop.

SIR – I read with interest Alan Cleaver’s review of the Theatre by the Lake’s Studio production of The Bogus Woman published in The Whitehaven News on June 12, in which he suggested that this type of play did not lend itself to being staged at the theatre where ‘holidaymakers go for a fun night out’.

SIR – I would like to comment on the article printed in the May 29 edition ‘Hand-wipes bid to beat hospital bugs’. My son was involved, as a pedestrian, in a road traffic accident back in February this year. He was treated in Intensive Care at The West Cumberland Hospital, where he remained comatose until he was transferred to Newcastle.
