A businesswoman and mother has been found dead in Turkey.

Angela Carr, from Wetheral, was found in the swimming pool of her holiday home in Didim, on Saturday.

The 47-year-old, known as Angie, is understood to have been in the country on her own. Exact details of how she died are to be confirmed but it is understood that the cause of death is not yet known.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We can confirm the death of a British national, Angela Carr, on June 16, in Didim, Turkey. We are providing consular assistance to the family at this difficult time.”

Ms Carr, a former nurse, was best known around Carlisle for her innovative shop launched in The Lanes shopping centre last year. She came up with the idea for the Evolving Yeti shop and set it up in the city centre just three weeks later.

It was a ‘pop-up’ shop, designed to be in place for just a few weeks. It sold footwear, accessories and toiletries with an ‘interchangeable’ theme.

Ms Carr had a six-year-old son with husband Bob Yetzes. The pair married on New Year’s Day 2011. They celebrated at three venues, including at Low House, Armathwaite, where the first ceremony included an unexpected gift for her new husband.

Speaking to Carlisle Living magazine at the time, Mr Yetzes recalled how the couple’s favourite song – Make You Feel My Love by Adele – was due to be played in the ceremony, but instead he found himself listening to a professional recording of the song by Angie.

“It was beautiful and just threw me,” he said. “I knew she could sing but I had no idea how well.”

The coroner has not yet been informed.
