Woman hospitalised after head-on collision

A 45-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to West Cumberland Hospital on Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle head-on collision at Asby.
Emergency services were called to the incident at North Mosses just before 7am. The collision involved a woman driving a Renault Megane and a VW van with six occupants.
Fire crews from Whitehaven and Frizington used cutting equipment to free the woman from her car. She had sustained abdominal injuries and she was taken to hospital by ambulance. The occupants of the van were uninjured.
