Why Harry is still bowling ’em over at 90!

HARRY Warren was “bowled over’’ by a surprise party to mark his 90th birthday.
Born in June 1922, he is a treasurer of Gosforth Bowling Club and still, according to club members, throws a mean indoor bowl!
Judith Duckett, who is the club secretary, said: “Before one of our sessions, we hid the food behind a curtain, so when we stopped for our 3pm break we just rolled it back to reveal the party.
“Harry had no idea what we had planned but he was very pleased. We all love Harry.’’
The village bowling club was originally set up by Harry’s wife, Phyllis, and the couple recently marked their 67th wedding anniversary.
Members meet in Gosforth Village Hall each Wednesday from 2-4pm.
New members are always welcome and equipment is provided.
Judith added: “With indoor bowling we don’t have to worry about the weather and it keeps us all going!’’
