Walk in memory of Rylan
Last updated at 13:38, Wednesday, 02 May 2012
FRIENDS of a schoolboy who died following an asthma attack are planning a walk in his memory.
Rylan Cosgrove died aged nine on February 21. He suffered an asthma attack after playing with friends on February 19 and died two days later.
Now his school pals, best friends Tyler Wood and Charlie Emslie, both 11, have organised a five-mile walk from Millom to Silecroft beach in tribute to their friend on Sunday.
The pair will be joined by other pupils from Black Combe Junior School on their walk which aims to raise money for Asthma UK – a charity close to their hearts.
Gillian Aston, Tyler’s mum, said: “They all went to school together and grew up not too far away. It affected them all because they are so young.
“Charlie’s mum and brother both have asthma and I think it really affected him – even more than the others.”
Rylan was a well-known pupil at Black Combe Junior School as well as playing rugby for both Millom mini Rugby League Club and Millom mini Rugby Union Football Club.
Millom RL Club held a minute’s applause in the week of his death and tributes were paid across the community to a boy his mum, Julie Stephenson, described as “a live wire”.
