Volunteer service extends its checks

CUMBRIA CVS has recently extended its Criminal Records Bureau disclosure service by processing over 180 volunteers enlisted to deliver its community meals service throughout the area.
It also provides a county-wide service processing nearly 1,000 checks a year for other charity and community organisations needing CRB disclosures.
Lisa Millard, Cumbria CVS development officer, said: “We’ve been providing the service for non profit-making, community and local authority organisations for many years now. We know from experience applicants often need their hand-holding and we have helpful, experienced staff to guide them through the process and answer questions.
“A wide range of organisations are finding they need CRB checks due to changes in legislation and we are well-placed to help them by offering competitive prices with discounts for third sector organisations, and a dedicated service contact for a swift, efficient response,” she added.
Despite having processed such a large number of CRB checks recently for its community meals service, there are still great opportunities for volunteers who would like to be involved with this essential service, and anyone willing and able to give their time and energy to help serve up to 70,000 meals a year should contact Cumbria CVS at info@cumbriacvs.org.uk or call 01768 800350.
