Three-car crash in Whitehaven

A THREE-CAR crash caused a major road to be closed in Whitehaven this morning (Tuesday).

The collision happened just before 8am on the busy A595 at Hensingham, and it caused a number of other vehicles on the road to shunt into one another.

The crash itself involved a Ford Transit van, a Ford Ka and a Hyundai. The driver of the Hyundai, a 33-year-old woman from Seascale, was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital for a check-up. Details of the other motorists involved have not been released at this time.

Police officers worked to clear the road and it re-opened at 8.56am.

Earlier this morning, police officers and ambulance crews attended a two-car crash in Parkside, near Cleator Moor.

A Vauxhall Combo Epic, being driven by a 29-year-old Frizington man, and an Audi TT, being driven by a 41-year-old Frizington man, collided close to the Parkside Hotel at 5.44am. Both motorists escaped with only minor injuries.
