Third strike at Remploy factory

A THIRD strike at Cleator Moor’s Remploy factory is set to take place on Monday.
Workers will take to the picket lines to protest against the Government’s decision to close the site.
It follows a second strike last Thursday (July 26) where 10 of the 15 staff, armed with flags, banners and placards, stood outside the factory on the Leconfield Industrial Estate from 7am-9am before returning to work.
Norman Finley, the factory’s GMB deputy shop steward, said there was a good turnout and the public had been very supportive.
GMB organiser Kevin Young said: “What’s coming through, both locally and nationally, is the public support to keep the facility open.
“We had a brilliant turnout, although it’s action that we shouldn’t be taking, nonetheless we have to.”
