The View: Friday night of At The Playground festival

The View, who shot to fame in 2007 with number one album Hats Off To Buskers and hit single Same Jeans, will headline the Friday night of the festival (May 17) and The Enemy headline the Saturday night.

“To say we’re happy to get The View is an understatement,” said David Eldon, of organisers The Mighty Boof.

“Now we’re looking forward to putting on one of the best weekends Whitehaven has ever seen!”

Scottish band The View have had three top 20 albums since their 2007 debut – their latest was last year’s Cheeky For A Reason – and they have starred at the country’s biggest festivals including V, Leeds and Reading and Isle of Wight.

Also headlining on the Friday night are two of the next big things to come out of Manchester, The Tapestry and Danny Mahon.

Alongside The Enemy on the Saturday are Sound of Guns and The Farm, and on both days are the best local musicians and DJs across five stages. For the full line-up visit www.mightyboofattheplayground.com.

It takes place at Whitehaven Rugby Union and Cricket Club, with some proceeds going to both clubs. Sponsorship has been provided by Copeland Community Fund.

Tickets are £35 for the whole weekend, £27 for the Saturday only, £20 for the Friday only. An under-12s day ticket is £5 and toddlers free.

They are available from Threads (Whitehaven), Yankees (Workington), 4 Play Cycles (Cockermouth), Aluna Salon (Maryport) and Skinny Gorilla (Carlisle) or online at www.mightyboofattheplayground.com.

Have your say

@Kelv, I'm a fan of The Lottery Winners but surely most people go to see them because of the exceptional covers they play? Not many people are into their original songs.

Personally I think it's a great line up and the view are a band that will suit Whitehaven well.

Yawn, typical "Boof" bands. What next? a load of Acoustic acts, good God the music scene in this town is revolved around the "Boof" clique being acoustic guitar players playing bloody covers. Get out of Shaker's and see some real musicians/bands play..there is real talent out there..The Lottery Winners?! Give me strength.
