The Charlatans and The Enemy to headline Whitehaven Festival

A STUNNING line-up has been confirmed for the final night of Whitehaven’s Diamond Jubilee Festival.
A star-studded gig, headlined by British superstars The Charlatans and The Enemy, will cap off a memorable weekend in town on the evening of Sunday, June 3.
Tickets for the concert go on sale today (Thursday) for what is sure to be a feast for fans of live music.
The Charlatans have secured 11 Top 40 albums and four Top 10 hits during their more than 20-year career.
Fronted by Tim Burgess, they will be treating fans to their greatest hits including One To Another, North Country Boy and How High. The gig follows the 15th anniversary of their iconic Tellin’ Stories album.
The Enemy are the current darlings of British indie rock, with their debut album We’ll Live And Die In These Towns going straight in at number one in 2007, and the follow-up Music For The People reaching second spot a year later.
The albums produced a number of hit singles including Away From Here, You’re Not Alone and Had Enough.
Also on the Sunday night bill is Simon Townshend, who is known for performing alongside his brother Pete in The Who, and The Lottery Winners, who have starred at a host of local festivals in recent years.
The gig has been secured after a collaboration between Whitehaven Festival Company and The Mighty Boof Promotions.
Danny Maudling and David Eldon, from The Boof, said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Festival team on the Sunday gigs and this year we’re delighted with the line-up we’ve been able to announce.
“All the bands are superb but we have two world class acts in The Charlatans and The Enemy and we know the music fans in the county will be right up for the gig.
“It’s become a bit of a challenge to beat their line-ups on the previous evenings and we think we’ve won this year”
Festival CEO Gerard Richardson added: “The Boof have done a brilliant job this year and we now have three incredible gigs to look forward to over the weekend.
“I’ve been following both The Charlatans and The Enemy for several years now and I cant quite believe they are coming to our event this year.
“They’re going to get a cracking reception and they deserve it. I think it’s a draw this year by the way!”
Tickets for the Sunday night show cost £40 from www.thewhitehavenfestival.co.uk. They will be available (with a £3 booking fee) in Richardson’s and Threads in Whitehaven from Thursday, March 29.
