Talented group of performers head to Egremont Market Hall

HIGH quality live music can be enjoyed, courtesy of SASRA Music and Arts, well into 2013.
The season began in October with the City of London Sinfonia, followed by The Square on the Hippopatamus and The Herdwyck Consort.
And it continues with three hotly-anticipated shows in 2013 – all taking place at Egremont Market Hall.
They begin with The Artisans on January 25 whose show, The Medieval Experience, offers a musical journey through medieval Europe.
From foot-tapping Italian dances and enchanting French troubadour songs to uplifting Iberian choruses and English carols, they will show the rich variety of surviving music from the time.
And although The Artisans play a range of ancient instruments, the concert will appeal to all – not just to early music enthusiasts.
The group is made up of Emily Askew (vielle, recorders, bagpipes), Hazel Askew (harp, voice), Nicolas Mendoza (rebec, hurdy-gurdy, voice) and Sarah Stuart (percussion).
The award-winning Piatti String Quartet are up next on February 22.
Made up of violinists Charlotte Scott and Michael Trainor, David Wigram on viola, and cellist Jessie Ann Richardson, the quartet won the St Martin in the Fields 2010 Chamber Music competition and have an array of other awards to their name.
The Piatti String Quartet is fast emerging as one of the UK’s leading young string quartets, and their Egremont show will feature Haydn (String Quartet in the Rider), Schumann (String Quartet No 3 in A) and Dvorak (Quartet No 13 in G).
And the programme is rounded off with The Fibonacci Sequence on March 15.
Considered one of the UK’s most distinguished chamber ensembles with impressive reviews and a wide-ranging discography, its members appear at the world’s leading festivals and venues.
The Fibonacci Sequence are Julian Farrell (clarinet), Gina McCormack (violin), Benjamin Hughes (cello) and Kathron Sturrock, and their programme will include Messaien’s Quartet for the End of Time.
All shows start at 8pm. For ticket and membership details contact Jim Hewitson on 01946 692178 or jhewitson@btinternet.com.
