MAYFIELD pupils were encouraged to take their first steps to independence during National Move Day.
The event offers the youngsters the chance to take part in an education and therapy programme designed to help those with severe and complex disabilities gain physical movement.
Headteacher Lynne Brownrigg said: “We believe as a school that every young person has the right to fulfil their potential and to live with dignity and the maximising level of independence.
“Once again Mayfield School staff team have provided a unique day of innovative activities in helping our young people to take their first steps to independence.’’
