Status Quo wow Whitehaven
Last updated 10:06, Monday, 04 August 2008
WHITEHAVEN was transformed into a major rock venue on Saturday as the legendary Status Quo took to the stage.
The crowd of all ages danced, sang and played their air guitar during the two-hour set.
And warming them up beforehand were a host of local bands - It Bites, glam rock's Gobstopper, Weathered Rock and Ruffkut.
The open-air event, organised by volunteers from Whitehaven Maritime Festival Company, was heralded a major success.
On the night, chief executive Gerard Richardson, said: "I am gobsmacked. For 10 years we have been doing major events but this has probably been the most exciting and enjoyable."
For a full round up of the music, all your comments and plenty of photographs see this week's Whitehaven News.
