Staff get on the bikes and do their bit

AS the London Olympics keeps the world gripped this summer, employees from Sellafield and GEN II are getting on their bikes for a charity challenge.
Yesterday the workers and apprentices started the three-day event which will see them cycle the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats on static spinning bikes.
It’s all taking place at Energus, Lillyhall, and Copeland mayor Peter Tyson even did a stint along with mayoress Louise Tyson.
Proceeds are going to The Great North Air Ambulance – one of the Mayor’s chosen charities for 2012.
Organiser Jackie Miller, from GEN II, said: “The whole country is getting involved in sport this summer so we thought we should.
“We regularly work with our partners at Sellafield Ltd to put on events and are delighted to be hosting this.”
Sellafield stakeholder relations officer Karl Connor said: “We had our deputy MD George Beveridge cycling at the beginning of the challenge, followed closely by one of the apprentices – so it really has been an event for everyone in the workforce to get behind and support.”
